課程概述

本課程為全英語授課,對象為具備基礎流行病學、生物統計學、及預防醫學相關知識的學生。本課程將以全球衛生為出發點,對量性研究之過程作概論性之介紹。以文獻中已出版之實證醫學及健康資料相關研究為範例,帶領學生從題目選擇、文獻檢索、資料分析、論文撰寫逐步了解研究的過程。除以實例為出發點作討論之外,亦將引領學生在自己研究計畫執行過程中與全球衛生的觀點作密切之結合,給予學生在研究設計之建議並讓學生報告個人研究的結果。本課程亦會邀請相關領域專家給予特別演講。
The aim of this course is to provide a general introduction to the research methods and application in global health. The examples and data are drawn from published literatures related to evidence-based medicine and health data research. The course will start with basic concepts of global health and evidence-based approach. Then, more advanced topics will be introduced, such as selection of a topic of interest, setting up the search strategy for literature review, and formation of a synthesis. Introduction to the management of public health data, as well as the assessment for quality of care using health claims data, will also be provided. Several special lectures will also be provided by experts in the relevant fields. Students will be guided to conduct projects related to their research, and present their results at the end of this semester. 

課程目標
1. 針對全球衛生架構下實證醫學角色與議題之探討。
2. 了解證據統合的完整過程(系統性文獻回顧、質量評估、統計分析、論文撰寫及投稿)。
3. 了解各種統合分析之統計理論與應用。
4. 了解如何利用健康資料進行照護品質的評估與探討。
5. 報告個人研究議題之結果。
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. Understand the concepts and rationales of evidence-based medicine within the framework of global health.
2. Understand the process of forming a synthesis from literature review, quality assessment, statistical analysis, to manuscript writing.
3. Understand the statistical theory and the application of different statistical theories of meta-analysis.
4. Understand the management and assessment of quality of care for health data.
5. Report the results from their personal project properly.
